Monoethanolamine is a colorless, toxic, flammable and corrosive liquid. It is miscible with water, methanol and acetone.

Monoethanolamine is used for scrubbing acid gases and also in various products such as dry-cleaning detergents, textiles, paints, polishes, agricultural sprays, pharmaceuticals and rubbers.

Sodium Hydroxide, or Caustic Soda Beads, come in white solid beads, which are soluble in water, ethanol and methanol. Caustic Soda Flakes are white and flat. Solid Sodium Hydroxide is often referred to as Lye.
