Sodium Benzoate

CAS No: 532-32-1

Sodium Benzoate is the sodium salt of benzoic acid. It has the appearance of white or colorless crystalline powder. It is soluble in water and alcohol.


Sodium Benzoate is widely used as a food preservative, but also has common applications in pharmaceuticals, tobacco products and as an intermediate or lubricants for certain dyes. It is often favored for its bacteriostatic and fungistatic properties.
